Public Education Funding

Public education funding

of high schools and community colleges is a priority that our community needs to fight for in Springfield. With talks of consolidation, we need someone in Springfield that is fighting to keep our schools open, safe, and well-funded. Through initiatives such as interactive-classrooms- we have the ability to increase curriculum to make our rural schools competitive and fiscally responsible at the same time. And the same goes for community colleges. Community colleges are vital to an educated workforce. These colleges provide classes for 64 percent of secondary education for Illinois students, but only receive 16 percent of higher education funding.  Our community colleges, such as Highland Community College, play a vital role in preserving Illinois’ reputation as a state with a highly educated and qualified workforce.
